Should we have an AI president?

When A.I. is sufficiently advanced, should we replace the Executive Branch with an artificially intelligent system? This system would be "hack-proof" and incorruptible. It would make all government decisions for us without the need to elect a new leader every four years. What problems do you foresee with this system?

No. I don't think an AI should be the new president even if it was incorruptible and hack proof. Why?

That's not how this is done. For over 2 centuries America has elected a human president, and especially now when we have elected our first African-American president, and we are so close to becoming a more progressive society it wouldn't be right.

AI is notorious for not having emotions. Not having empathy and mercy. Some people say this is a good thing, a president that can make the cold decisions in time of need, but it's not. We don't need cold-hearted presidents with no human emotions, because humans have emotions. There are decisions that are about morals, ethics and the basis of whats right and wrong.

Also if we program a robot who's main mission is to better our nation of America and to uphold the constitution, no matter the cost, the robot could overthrow us. Think about it, the biggest flaw within America is humans. Our racism our division. We are the root of all problems, and if an AI's main mission is to save America, what's to say that they Won't get rid of us?

The AI is not a human. Even if we can get it to have independent thoughts, it is not a human. My other two points talked about this. We are humans, with human needs. An AI won't be able to fully process this, no matter how talented we are. We cannot make a robot have human needs.

The constitution says we have to have an election. We can't go against the basic rules of the constitution. I believe we need to change the government, in order to make life more fair, for lack of a better word. Having an AI president would be cool, but it would not work for the advantage of humanity. Part of our rights is to choose a different president after a term is over, that's what made our country so unique back then in the late 1700s.

Thanks for coming to my TedTalk.
